The mouth is home to a complex microflora in dynamic interaction with the host immune response. Investigation of this ecosystem is not only the realm of microbiologists interested in oral microorganisms and biofilm formation but also immunologists who study mucosal immunity as well as oral biologists and clinicians keen to understand the fundamental determinants of oral health and disease.
The aim of the Oral Microbiology and Immunology Group is to provide a forum to promote interest and research in these important areas of biology and biomedical science. We hold regular meetings of our own and arrange symposia at meetings of the British Society for Oral and Dental Research. We communicate via the website, email, Facebook and Twitter and have close associations with other research groups.
OMIG is a research group of the BSODR. The formal constitution for OMIG can be found by following this link.
