Travel to Newcastle

Travel by Train

Newcastle Central Station is on the east coast main line and directly accessible from London King’s Cross, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The University can easily be reached from Newcastle Central Station using the Metro. Haymarket Metro station is opposite the campus and only two stops from Central Station. The campus is approximately 18-minutes’ walk from the train station. A taxi rank is also outside the station.

Travel by Plane

Newcastle International Airport is about 7 miles from the city centre. You can travel by Metro from the airport to the city centre – the journey to Haymarket (the nearest stop to the University) takes about 25 minutes.

For further information, please read the following guidance

There are plenty of hotels available in the city centre of Newcastle.  We are in the process of securing a preferred delegate rate at one of the city centre hotels.  Further details will be sent upon registration.

BSODR ECR Social Event

We are planning a social event on Friday 22nd April 2022, after the event.  This will be an informal event, and all delegates are welcome to attend, even for a passing drink before heading back home. Delegates’ attending the social event will be expected to pay for their own food and drinks.  The BSODR Travel Bursary (for those eligible) will not cover this event.

A feedback questionnaire will be sent after the link.  A verifiable eCPD certificate will be provided for those who indicate so on the feedback link.

Conference Fee

BSODR Members

This event is free to all BSODR members.

Non-BSODR Members

There is a £25 conference fee. This must be paid by 20th April 2022 or you will be unable to attend the study day. There will be no facilities to take payments on the day, and BSODR have asked us to ensure payments are collected before the study day.  Further information on how to pay will be sent in due course.

BSODR Travel Bursaries

A Travel Bursary of up to  £150 will be available for ECR and student BSODR Members (only) to cover travel and accommodation costs and will be available after the event on submission of receipts.

As there is a finite amount of funding available, BSODR reserves the right to restrict the number of ECRs to whom financial support will be made available, in which case such support will be provided on a first come, first served basis. However, it is hoped that all ECRs can be offered financial support.

Please note that non-ECR members of BSODR are also welcome to attend, but financial support will not be available.

Details of scheme will be available soon.
