Our 2023 President’s prize round is currently open for submissions. The deadline is the 28th April 2023. We asked last year winner, Dr Cher Farrugia, so tell us a little bit about her experience.
I’ve been a BSODR member since I commenced my PhD at the University of Sheffield in 2017. By 2022, I had successfully published research in translational microbiology in high-impact journals and after being awarded ECR research prizes, including the BSODR Senior Colgate Prize as PhD student in 2020, applying for the BSODR President’s Prize felt like the next step to showcase my research contributions.
Applying for the BSODR President’s Prize was relatively straightforward and consisted of submitting a substantial publication or a coherent body of work as well as an application consisting of three main sections: the personal statement, CV and a letter of support from the Head of School. The personal statement is divided into short statements which cover impact, citations, research dissemination and future aspirations.
It was a great honour to be able to present the research work that led to the award during the Pan-European Division Meeting of the International Association of Dental Research (PER-IADR) in Marseille, France in September 2022. It was also a wonderful opportunity to network with like-minded dental researchers from all over Europe.
Highly recommended for BSODR members based in a British Research Institution within 6 years of obtaining their PhD interested in further dissemination of their oral and dental research!
